Pajarito Landmarks Project

Geography and Environmental Studies Ph.D. Student Desiree Loggins is working with Center for Social Sustainable Systems (CESOS) on their Pajarito Landmarks Project. The project seeks to increase community accessibility, connectivity, safety, and visibility to acequias in the Pajarito Community of Albuquerque. Desiree will assist with achival research on the Pajarito Acequia and interview community members about acequia history, governance, spirituality, and ecology. At the end of the project, this research will contribute to four interpretive signs along the Pajarito Acequia for local ditch walkers and community members to interact with.
This project continues the Center's 2021 partnership with CESOS where Critical Cartography students created a storymap that illustrated how community members connected to the pajarito acequia. View the storymap here: https://tinyurl.com/3ujnd2by
