Guest Speaker Visit: Dr. Michael DeVivo
R.H. Mallory Center for Community Geography | April 8–10, 2026
The R.H. Mallory Center for Community Geography will host Dr. Michael DeVivo, Director of the Geography Program at Grand Rapids Community College and recipient of the American Association of Geographers Presidential Achievement Award, for a three-day visit.
The visit will begin on April 8 at 2pm with a casual meet-and-greet with snacks and refreshments, offering students and faculty an opportunity to meet Dr. DeVivo and have informal conversations.
On April 9, Dr. DeVivo will visit geography classes and speak with students about his experience in geography education and academic program development.
The highlight of the visit will take place on April 10, when Dr. DeVivo will deliver a public lecture hosted by the R.H. Mallory Center for Community Geography. The lecture will focus on leadership in academic geography and the development of geography programs, and will be open to students, faculty, and members of the public.
